Brooks Adrenaline Gts 15 Review

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 Review
8.2/10

Summary

With the updates from its predecessor, the Brook’s Adrenaline GTS 15 is exactly what it claims to be, a “Go To Shoe.” With top of the line stability and an improved cushioning system, this shoe should look to please many buyers. This shoe more closely resembles the Adrenaline GTS 13 rather than the 14. I know a lot of people that loved the series up until 14 and could not handle the changes and lack of support. If you are one of those runners, the Adrenaline GTS 15 should be back in your wheelhouse.

Adrenaline GTS 15 Updates from Predecessor’s

In this review I would really like to focus on the updates from the previous models.  I personally believe there are more changes in this model than when most shoe lines go from one generation to the next. What differences are there to look forward to in the Adrenaline GTS 15? Like in many of the Brook shoes that have been coming out in this past year or so, the GTS 15 also picks up the BioMoGo DNA in the midsole which provides a bit more cushion underfoot for a soft and smooth ride.

Another addition is the full-length crashpad from heel to toe. This is where a lot of cushion comes back unlike the previous model. You can see this physically as it lines through the bottom of the shoe as part of the outsole. I think this feature in the Adrenaline GTS 15 does a pretty decent job at adding cushion but not causing any sort of bounciness that I feel some shoes do these days. The latest addition is a new diagonal rollbar that offers better stability for over-pronators and also a little more control for those that do not not quite as much stability.

As previous models, the Adrenaline GTS 15 offers a 12mm drop from heel to toe so really helps those with a bit more of an arch. I personally do not run in shoes with quite so much arch as I am a neutral runner and only need some cushion for comfort. I also run in some minimalist styled shoes which is quite the opposite of a 12mm drop. It all comes down to what is best for you. Not one foot will have the same shape, pronation, overall gait, arch, ect ect. There are so many variables to look at which is why choosing the right shoe can be difficult.

Adrenaline GTS 15’s Upper Construction

Some less experienced runners may over look a thing such as a shoe’s upper but I believe it to be one of the most important pieces. Impacting basically the entire shoe from comfort, breathability, and weight, it should have a big impact on buyers. Basically the upper in the Adrenaline GTS 15 is made of a no-sew mesh which creates a very snug comfortable fit. You should be able to flex your toes up and feel the mesh flex to a decent degree. The midsole saddle is very nice as well. It offers several variations of fit for the mid-foot depending on how much stability you might need. It connects the midsole to the heel allowing different levels of stability through the lace system.

Adrenaline GTS 15’sDurability

The durability of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is fantastic and quite frankly, at its price it better be. I personally do not own a pair as the price is too steep for me to get a shoe that does not fit my exact needs as a runner. As a reviewer though, I have done quite a bit of research on this exact topic. Brook wearers should know that their shoes typically are very durable. Its just something we expect by now. The HPR+ helps strengthen durability focusing on high wear areas on the outsole. I would not expect any issues with knocking out at least 500-600 miles on these and then some.

Adrenaline GTS 15’s Sizing

Really the biggest knock on the GTS 15 and one of the things that you need to watch for the most when buying any shoe, is the sizing. This won’t be new to most buyers of the Adrenaline GTS series. As previous models, while the toe box itself is typically wide enough the shoes run a bit short. I would definitely recommend ordering 1/2 a size up. Its much more comfy to run in a shoe slightly too big than slightly too small, trust me. If anything, i would recommend trying one on at a local store and picking a free shipping and returns option, so if there is a size issue, you can re-order to find your right fit.

Adrenaline GTS 15’s Pricing

The MSRP is a bit steep sitting at $120. Amazon should offer it at a lower price most of the time. I’ll notify users for any super deals on the Adrenaline GTS 15 but last checked I found my size sitting at $105. All in all, it’s a shoe worth the price if you are looking for a extremely easy riding, stability shoe that offers good durability and a decent amount of cushion.
